Cleaners NW2 Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Cleaners NW2 in respect of the financial year ending 31 December. It sets out the steps we have taken, and continue to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking occurring within our business operations and supply chains.
Cleaners NW2 provides professional cleaning services to residential and commercial clients. We recognise that our sector can be exposed to risks of labour exploitation, particularly in relation to temporary, migrant and low-paid workforces. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and ensuring effective systems and controls are in place to safeguard workers and protect human rights.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
Cleaners NW2 has a clear, unequivocal zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking, debt bondage and child labour. We will not knowingly engage with any individual, contractor, agency or supplier involved in such practices. Any confirmed instance of modern slavery connected to our operations or supply chain will result in immediate action, which may include terminating contracts, reporting to relevant authorities and supporting affected individuals to access help.
Our zero-tolerance policy applies to all employees, workers, agency staff, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers. It is embedded within our internal policies, codes of conduct and contractual terms, and is supported by clear expectations regarding fair treatment, lawful recruitment and payment of wages.
Our Supply Chains and Supplier Standards
Our supply chains include providers of cleaning products and equipment, facilities services, recruitment and labour agencies, and other professional services. We are committed to working only with suppliers who share our values and adhere to applicable labour and human rights laws.
We require suppliers to confirm that they do not engage in modern slavery and that they maintain safe working conditions, fair pay, legal working hours and respectful treatment of all staff. Where appropriate, we include contractual clauses requiring suppliers to comply with anti-slavery legislation, to cascade similar standards to their own supply chains and to notify Cleaners NW2 of any modern slavery concerns.
Supplier Audits and Due Diligence
Cleaners NW2 undertakes proportionate due diligence on key suppliers, particularly those providing labour or operating in higher-risk categories. As part of this process, we may request information on employment practices, right-to-work checks, use of subcontractors and policies relating to modern slavery.
Where necessary, we conduct audits or assessments of selected suppliers. These audits may include reviewing documentation relating to worker contracts, wage payments and working hours, as well as discussing recruitment practices and grievance mechanisms. If we identify areas of concern, we will work with the supplier on corrective actions within clear timeframes, or end the relationship if improvements are not made.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage anyone connected with Cleaners NW2, including employees, agency workers, suppliers and their staff, to raise concerns about potential modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be reported through our internal reporting channels or directly to management in confidence.
All reports are taken seriously and investigated promptly and impartially. We are committed to protecting anyone who raises a concern in good faith from victimisation, retaliation or disadvantage. Where appropriate, we will notify relevant external bodies and cooperate fully with any official investigations.
Training and Awareness
Cleaners NW2 provides appropriate training and guidance to managers, supervisors and staff involved in recruitment, procurement and supplier management. This training covers recognising indicators of modern slavery, how to respond to concerns and the importance of maintaining transparent, ethical working practices.
We also raise general awareness among our workforce about their rights, our expectations of respectful behaviour and how to seek support or report concerns.
Monitoring, Governance and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery sits with the senior management of Cleaners NW2. They are responsible for ensuring that policies remain effective, that risks are regularly assessed and that corrective actions are implemented where required.
This statement and our underlying procedures are reviewed at least annually, or more frequently if there are significant changes in legislation, guidance or our business operations. During each review, we assess the effectiveness of our measures, update risk assessments, consider feedback from staff and suppliers, and identify opportunities for improvement.
By continually reviewing and enhancing our approach, Cleaners NW2 aims to maintain robust safeguards against modern slavery, promote ethical employment throughout our organisation and supply chains, and uphold the dignity and rights of every person who contributes to our services.
